Chippy’s was established on Maroondah Highway Ringwood in 1983, (an eastern suburb of Melbourne some 20 km from the CBD), a family owned and operated company. Originally established with the main focus on outdoor timbers, specializing in treated pine and durable decking timbers. Continuing to expand our range of outdoor timbers, we rapidly became one of Melbourne’s leading suppliers of outdoor building products.
In 1992 Chippy’s moved into a larger site, still on Maroondah Highway (the western side of Ringwood.) Increasing our product range with the addition of large displays of decks, pergola's gazebo's and feature fencing over a 12 year period, Eastlink Freeway required the site to build the new freeway.
In 2003 Chippy’s purchased the Ringwood Ice Arena (28-30 Maroondah Highway, Ringwood) next door to our, then current location. After twelve months of renovating the former ice skating rink (on approximately 2 ½ acres of land, with over 4000 Square Meters of warehouse, showroom and storage areas) we commenced business at our current location in May 2004. Over the past five years we have continued to build new facilities, displays and extend our showroom. During this period we have changed our name from Chippys Timber to Chippys Outdoor to reflect our growing range of outdoor lifestyle products.
In 2008 we completed stage 3 of an extensive renovation, incorporating an additional 400 Square Meters of decking, screening and feature wall displays, and also a new Coffee Shop.
We have Melbourne’s largest timber decking display with over 20 different combinations of decking concepts and ideas. Covering over 1,000 Square Meters, with over 100,000 Lineal Meters of decking timber in stock at any time.
Our showroom has a large range of timber screens both pre-made and D.I.Y kits, also gazebo’s, authentic Bali huts & accessories, solid cast statues, G.R.C water features, timber & synthetic furniture, hand rails & stainless steel displays, a huge range of outdoor timbers and a boutique hardware shop.
We are constantly sourcing new lifestyle products locally and abroad, with the emphasis on new concepts and ideas to reflect our client's ongoing passion for outdoor alfresco living. We have our own workshop where we design small prototype runs of; daybeds, screens and gazebo’s etc. When bugs and design faults are rectified, these products are customized and outsourced for larger production.
Chippy’s Outdoor doesn't construct or build to order, but can recommend reputable, long-standing trades person to advise and complete that special project.

Chippy's have a longstanding reputation for innovation, expert advice and inspirational displays. We have participated in many exhibitions, magazine, feature articles and achieved many awards.
